Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives
1) Diversity Workshop
In November 2006, Chris Fry and David Hawkins attended Lynne Curry's
worksop on diversity. Chris Fry and David Hawkins used the knowledge
gained from this workshop in the recruitment and hiring practices for the
station.
2) Job Fair
Our station participated in the Alaska Department Of Labor Job Fair
held Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Carlson Center, located at 2010
Second Avenue in Fairbanks. Chris Fry, JP Hoff and Bill St. Pierre
answered questions concerning sales, news and operations.
3) Intern Program
In conjunction with the Alaska Broadcasters Association, we hired an intern to work a
minimum of 100 hours. Micah T Johnson was chosen as this years intern by her submission
of an essay written about the impact of the media in a small market society.
We offered this program to all area high schools as well as the University
of Alaska.  
Extras
ABA Scholarship
Under the guidelines of the number 7 menu option of EEO Compliance
Chris Fry, station manager and employee of KFXF and KXD, reviewed applications
and participated in the selection of the 2007 ABA scholarship recipient.
Public Service Announcements
Our stations run a PSA campaign provided by the Alaska Broadcasters Assoc.
This psa's showcases various careers within television broadcasting from board
operation, news direction and on-air talent. The :30 spot closes with "Television, make
it your career." There is a wide variety of ethnicity and gender in this psa.
School Age Tours
This station host several tours throughout the year for such groups as the boy/cub
scouts, girl scouts, boys and girls clubs, primary and secondary classes.
April 19, 2007 45 minute station tour to Webelos Cub Scouts. In this tour, we
gave the children a chance to see what it was like to work with a green screen.
Giacomo showed how to report the weather while Sid showed them how to run cg.
