Excuse a Child from School

Fairbanks - For short or only day absences call the school in the morning so officials know not to expect your child.

Attendance is crucial to a student's academic sucess.

Families are encouraged to take personal family vacations during school breaks, not when school is in session.  Please contact your child's school directly for information about the consequences of a lengthy absence.

Poor grades are commonly affiliated with poor attendance.

Schools send notices to parents for every 10 days of absence from class. The district can pursue legal  action for truancy violations.

Prolonged absences are a serious detriment to student learning. Students who are absent for 10 consecutive days regardless of reason, will be withdrawn from school.

However, it is important to talk with the school when this might happen so that your child's place be held in their classes.
